We were ready for them. And they came with the expected success that goes with them [...] the wait to witness a full concert with them was worth it.

CODALARIO.- LUIS & VÍCTOR DEL VALLE WITH JUANJO MENA IN THE OCNE SEASON

THE MUSICAL TESTAMENT TOGETHER WITH EVERLASTING POPULARITY

By Raúl Chamorro Mena

Madrid. December 1st, 2017. National Music Auditorium, Spanish National Orchestra and Choir Season. Concert for two pianos and percussion, Sz. 115 (Bela Bartók). Carmina Burana (Carl Orff). Luis and Víctor del Valle, pianos. Juanjo Guillem and Rafa Gálvez (percussion). Jane Archibald (soprano), Juan Antonio Sanabria (tenor), Adrian Ërod (Baritone). Small singers of the Community of Madrid. National Orchestra and Choir. Director: Juanjo Mena.

The del Valle piano duo, as well as the percussionists Guillem and Gálvez - both soloists in the National Orchestra - showed an impeccable coupling, which is the most important, logically, rather than any individual virtuoso exhibition, in this Bartók's original as well as suggestive score. An empathy and complicity as remarkable as the performance perfected by the baton of Juanjo Mena, in his role, appropriately contributing to the corresponding orchestral timbres, without hindering the well entangled musical discourse between the piano duo from Malaga and the percussionists. Corresponding to the enthusiastic ovations from the audience, they played an arrangement of Ma mère l'Oye by Maurice Ravel as encore.
